I went home that night and typed “lucid dreaming” into Google, reading everything I could get my hands on.

My journey started at UC Berkeley, where I spent most of my time studying dreams and sleep directly with the world’s leading researchers.

During that time I devoured the most important cutting-edge and ancient, pre-biblical texts available. I practiced intensely during both the day and night.

I learned how to truly control my dreams. I learned to awaken a deep awareness that is untapped in so many of us. But I still wasn’t satisfied. I knew there was more.

I knew I had only scratched the surface of what was possible in my explorations with consciousness and lucid dreaming…

Armed with a burning desire and unquenchable curiosity, I graduated from UC Berkeley and decided to search for the answers to the questions that burned so deep inside me.

I’ve spent the past years traveling the globe, seeking out wisdom from some of the world’s greatest masters of lucid dreaming.

A lot of the rest was just New Age nonsense. Those writers tried to convince me that the miserable unsatisfying situation I was living in was perfectly okay. They said I should just accept it and be happy.

But I didn’t want to accept it. I wanted to create my ideal vision, and I would settle for nothing less.

Other books taught an easy way out in the form of wishful thinking. Learn this meditation and you will magically manifest everything your heart desires. But I also realized long ago, through my own personal trading journey, that we as traders didn’t have the tools and resources to make it happen.

Signals that were generated from a bot (or EA) that stops working because market conditions had changed and the system had not beenProgrammed for ‘unforeseen’ circumstances.

In actual fact, I found that most traders spent more time "preparing to trade" then actually trading… and the sad thing is that many of these "traders" consistently made the wrong trading decision time and time again…

Very funny.. but sad… I mean, seriously, you could bet against some of these guys and make a fortune doing the exact opposite trade they executed over 90% of the time…

I decided that I need to breakdown trading to the fundamentals and really discover my strengths and weaknesses.

Again I pulled out the pen and paper and wrote down what I felt that I needed to really improve my trading. I wasted too much time analyzing charts all day long to figure out if my strategy was effective or not and where it was effective.  

I needed a way to look at my trading in depth without having to look at charts for hours and hours on end just to give up because of the vast amount of information was too much for my brain to handle.

I realized that I didn’t want to have to spend hours in front of the computer and I needed a way to simplify a few things on my MT4 to make things more convenient so that I could focus on my trading.

For example I wanted to build a trendline and when price crossed my line I wanted a set action to automatically happen whether it is open sell, open buy etc.

I needed a quick way to analyze all of my trading history quickly and efficiently so that I could learn from past trades. Going through the history of all of my charts takes me forever and it is very difficult for me to analyze all of the information.

I realized oh no. I need to have the news on 24/7. The thought of that brought back memories of my dad who had Bloomberg on our television 24/7. The thought actually made me cringe. But I knew that the news is what makes the market move and that I had to stay on top of it to ensure that I was profitable.

Then I really got to thinking… There are times when the markets are really moving and that I needed to stay on top of these times as well to be profitable. 

All of these things started swirling in my head and I will be honest.. I was feeling very overwhelmed!

If I had to spend all this time analyzing charts, watching the news and also having to know the exact times when the markets are really moving when was I going to have time to actually trade or even sleep?

After taking a hot shower to calm my anxiety down I decided there had to be a way to simplify these things and also help me become consistently profitable not just earning a few pips here and there…

So, we built our boat right in our back yard and you can too! The hull was constructed of local lumberyard materials and covered with fiberglass. She was a 27 ft. trailerable cabin cruiser with sleek lines. The cabin had nice berthing, galley and head. I could see myself coming into dock as all drooled over my mini yacht. The Gypsy on the other hand had all except looks. She was a homely boat but very practical. She did have a very shallow draft, which I wanted for the Florida lakes. Also, the Gypsy could be used as a camper, and I thought the layout was more practical for a family with children. So, with the children chanting, "Raven, Raven," I picked up the phone and ordered the Gypsy Plans! I never regretted this decision, and soon the family came to love the homely Gypsy that we christened the "Fair Havens."

That night the children wanted to sleep on the bow porch, which I agreed to. I noticed as I went to bed that along the shoreline you could hear small minnows splashing. So we fell asleep with a gentle rocking of the boat and the soothing splash of those minnows. Around 4 A.M. I awoke and noticed the splashing of the minnows was very close, so I tried to get up to investigate. However, I couldn’t sit up, because the bow of the boat was angled down. Still being half asleep, the thought came to me that I should not have let the kids sleep on the bow porch, because their weight was pulling the bow down. Then I jolted awake with the realization that something was terribly wrong!

Some days I could drop him off and by the time I arrived home the school was ringing me to pick him up again! He was being bullied and the teachers just didn’t seem to want to help him one little bit.

Brandon began to feel very overwhelmed anytime he had to go to school. No one liked him! And though he could not communicate it… He still felt strongly and knew in his own way he had no friends, the teachers loathed him and he was so alone and sad. I used to find him just sobbing under the quilt in his bedroom. His unfriendly peers and equally unhelpful teachers were literally tearing his poor young soul into pieces. Over time his behaviours began to come strong and heavy because problems were getting worse at school. And this went on for 3 years… It all reached a chilling climax on Valentine’s Day in 2004 (when Brandon was 8), when…

So while every other child was sitting there opening cards and giggling on this "fun" day; our son was made to sit there and just watch. Not even the teacher made a card for him, which I actually found the most hurtful! Then I received the phone call… Brandon had "lost it" in class and they wanted me to pick him up. Which I did; however no-one at the school even bothered to let me know what had happened. So Brandon stormed into the house and nearly slammed the bedroom door off it’s hinges. I left him alone for 5 minutes, because I knew he needed downtime before I should approach him. To kill time I emptied his school bag, cleared the kitchen table and began peeling some carrots for dinner.

Brandon was nowhere to be found, which sent a chill down my spine because I knew he had not left his bedroom… My heart was now beating SO quickly because I feared he had jumped out his window (he had done this a few times before)… However I soon realised he couldn’t as the screen was still on the window… I looked under his bed… there was no one there. Then I looked in his wardrobe because I know he used to like curling up in his wardrobe when he was younger. And there was my little man, the love of my life, hanging from the rod in his wardrobe while his hands were in the tie around his neck. My mind went blank except for the immediate "life and death" need to get the damned tie off his neck and to talk to him… To try to figure out what in the world had happened to make my beautiful son want to end his own life.

We cuddled together on his bedroom floor and I told him I was going to ask a lot of questions and he needed to answer them. Brandon managed to stifle his sobs and meekly replied “Okay”.
